Closing statements heard in Zach Adams’ post-conviction hearing
HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn. — Zach Adams, who was convicted of kidnapping, raping, and killing Holly Bobo, appeared back in Hardin County Circuit court to continue fighting for a new trial.

The prosecution called their witnesses, Micheal Frizzell, to the stand Monday.
Frizzell is currently an assistant director over the Administration Division for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. He created a report of phone records from Holly Bobo, Zach Adams, and Jason Autry’s phones.

Frizzell testified in the original trial back in September 2017 that at 8:55 a.m. on April 13, 2011 all of their phones pinged off the same tower.
However, he testified Monday that the phones could be anywhere in the towers reach.
“Well I can’t tell you where the phones were. All I can tell you is they used these towers where I noted these sectors. Anywhere in these sectors is where the phones could be,” said Frizzell.

The prosecution asked Frizzell about John Walker’s theories and conclusions. John Walker was a U.S. Marshall and senior inspector who had also testified at the original trial.
According to Frizzell, Walker prepared a report that was more factual on the phone records. Walker labeled specific locations of where Bobo’s phone would have traveled, however Frizzell says there is no way to determine the exact location.
“There’s just no way to determine that at all based on the call detail records that we have. All we know is the hour it was used and what sector it was used,” said Frizzell.
There is also evidence that Adams used his phone very frequently from 10 a.m. until the afternoon.
However in Adams’ previous testimony, he claims he was a drug user and was trying to buy them and that he had no knowledge of Bobo.
The post-conviction relief has ended and all of the witnesses have testified. Monday’s hearing also included closing statements and the judge has indicated his decision for a re-trial will be heard in 90 days or more.
