Wind Chill in the Teens Tonight, Mid Week Warm up on the Way!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Sunday night’s cold front brought a round of gusty rain showers but didn’t spark up any storms or any severe weather across our area. There were some estimated wind gusts near 50mph and some isolated power outages along the line. Temperatures dropped about 40° from yesterday to today and tonight we will bottom out into the low 20s from the front. The winds will not be calm tonight and the light breeze will make it feel in the teens all night long and into Tuesday morning. Some warmer weather is on the way and there is a shot for some rain in the forecast and we will tell you all about it coming up here.
THIS WEEK:
It was a cold start to the week as an arctic blast moved in Sunday night behind a powerful cold front. The front brought a round of gusty wind showers but we didn’t bring any thunderstorms with it. Most of us picked up less than 1/4″ of rain but the winds were enough to cause some trees and power lines to go down leading to some power outages in West Tennessee. The strongest winds were all concentrated north of I-40. Highs on Monday only reached the low to mid 30s and we will fall down to the low 20s tonight. The winds will be light but the breeze will be enough to make it feel in the mid teens all night lows. Expect clear skies tonight and a sunny day on Tuesday.
Tuesday will be another cold day with highs only reaching the mid to upper 30s. We should all fall short of 40° but most of West Tennessee will warm back into the 50s for the remainder of the week. Skies will remain sunny during the day and clear at night until we get closer to the end of the work week. Tuesday night lows will fall to the mid to upper 20s and the warm up will start as the winds will be back to the southwest on Wednesday. Wednesday highs should reach up to around 50° and Wednesday night lows will be around normal and fall down near freezing in the low 30s as we kick in the new year. New Year’s Eve will be chilly, but dry around the region.
For the first day of 2026, some clouds will build back in during the day on Thursday but we should still see plenty of sunshine for the majority of the day. The next system will get closer during the day but not push through until Friday. The winds on Thursday will start our calm but will kick up late in the day out of the southeast and that should help the temperatures climb back into the mid 50s for all of West Tennessee. Thursday night lows will be mild and drop down to around 40°.
The next shot for rain is coming in on Friday and thunderstorms or severe weather seems unlikely at this time. As the low pressure system comes through the Mid South, some weak showers will be possible but rain amounts appear to be low with this system. Highs on Friday will be the warmest of the week and will reach up to the upper 50s to near 60°. Expect a mostly cloudy day on Friday and the rain is not expected until the afternoon at the earliest and all the rain should move our Friday night into Saturday morning. Friday night lows will drop down again to around 40°.
THE WEEKEND:
The weekend is looking pretty nice as of now and the showers coming in on Friday should clear out and not impact your weekend plans. Saturday will be a little cooler behind Friday’s system with highs still making it up to around 50° though. The cooldown will be short lived as highs will be back into the mid 50s by Sunday. Saturday night will be a little cool in the mid 30s and Sunday night lows will be mild and only fall down to the low 40s. Even warmer weather is expected to kick off next week. The winds this weekend will start out of the north on Saturday and turn up calm for the most part on Sunday and back to the south to kick off next week. There will be some early day clouds on Saturday as the system moves out but overall, we should see plenty of sunshine for the first weekend of 2026.
