JMC Library celebrates patrons turning 13

JACKSON, Tenn.—One local library is celebrating new teens and all the perks that come with turning thirteen.

Jackson-Madison County Library is home to hundreds of different collections of books as well as access to online resources, and more.

For the first Saturday of each month, the library hosts a birthday celebration for teens rising through the stakes and grants them access to their upstairs thirteen through eighteen section.

Patrons can invite parents and siblings to enjoy cake, ice cream, and even a hot chocolate bar.

“Our teens are the upcoming foundations of our community, right, and so teens, they want to connect with our community, they want to connect with other teens, they want to connect with other people, so I try to give them a place where they can come and do that. And it’s safe for them,” said Jessica Carter, Teen Dept. Manager

The library is welcome to everyone in the community and teens will need a library card to check out books, materials or use the computer. Other services or fun activities are offered upstairs without need for a library card.
