Victims identified in Humphreys County death investigation

WAVERLY, Tenn.—Authorities have identified the victims of those found dead in a Waverly residence Friday.

Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis released the names of the four victims found after a welfare check at the home.

Authorities announced Saturday that 4-year-old Arius Thompson, 13-year-old Isaiah Thompson and 88-year-old Evelyn Johnson were identified as the deceased.

Also found dead in the home was 32-year-old Heather Thompson. Sheriff Davis says the investigation indicates Thompson shot and killed the other three victims before taking her own life.

Sheriff Davis told WSMV News in Nashville, “Here again, I know the families. So, we’re going to do right by them,” he said. “We’re going to respect them. We’re going to do right by them.”

The incident took place in a residence on East Little Richland Road in Waverly. Authorities say the victims were lifelong residents of Humphreys County.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting the sheriff’s office with the ongoing investigation.
