Investigation into Sunday homicide ongoing
JACKSON, Tenn. — Just days into the new year, authorities are investigating Jackson’s first homicide.
Early Sunday morning, shots rang out in east Jackson. When officers arrived, they found one man suffering from gunshot wounds.
According to the Jackson Police Department, officers responded to King Baba’s Restaurant located at 76 Old Hickory Boulevard at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
Police say several shots had been fired in this parking lot. It is still unclear how the shooting unfolded.
Police later learned one victim had been transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim has now been identified as 31-year-old Schuyler Jarvell Taylor of Whiteville.
Police confirm Taylor later died from his injuries. At this time, no information has been released about a suspect or what may have led up to the shooting.
