Kenneth H. Charles

Kenneth H. Charles, age 75 of Puryear, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at his
residence. His funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 8, 2026, at McEvoy Funeral Home
with Chad Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow the service in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Named as pallbearers are Danny Bowden, David Wood, Brandon Reddon, Bradley French, J-Michael
French, and Shane Charles.
Visitation with the family is scheduled on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. and
again on Thursday after 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
Kenneth Charles was born July 3, 1950, in Puryear, Tennessee, to the late Houston Charles and the late
Essie B. Stagner Charles. He married Jewell Faye Decker Charles on November 22, 1969, and she
survives in Puryear. Kenneth leaves behind his sons, Jeff (Stephanie) Charles and Bert (Angela) Charles,
all of Puryear; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; niece, Kathy (Rocky) Johnson of
Union City; nephew, Charles (Rhonda) Taylor of Puryear; and sister-in-law, Vicki Decker of Moss Point,
Mississippi.
Besides his parents, Kenneth is also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Taylor, and brother-in-
law, Joe Decker.
Kenneth was a member of Puryear Baptist Church. He was a maintenance supervisor at the Henry
County Courthouse for 22 years. Kenneth was an avid fisherman and a skilled woodworker.
