West TN Drug Task Force: Another record-breaking year of seizures

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE WEST TENNESSEE DRUG TASK FORCE:

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The West Tennessee Violent Crime and Drug Task Force has released their annual stats for the 2025 calendar year.

They’ve broken three individual drug seizure records with Meth, Cocaine and Promethazine while seizing an overall total of 1,889 pounds of drugs from the streets and highways of Shelby, Haywood, Crockett, Gibson, Dyer and Lake Counties in West Tn.

  • Arrests – 101 ea.
  • Guns – 54 ea.
  • Methamphetamine – 260 lbs.  (record)
  • Fentanyl – 8 pounds
  • Cocaine – 213 lbs. (record)
  • Controlled Pills – 5,586 ea.
  • Promethazine – 254 lbs. (31.5 gl.) (record)
  • Extasy – 1 oz.
  • Marijuana – 1,154 lbs.

  In addition to these seizures, Agents assisted other Agencies in solving and/or identifying 5 homicides and suspects.

“These men and women work tirelessly sacrificing so much of their personal time and risking their lives to make West Tennessee a safer place to live, work and visit and I appreciate each and every one of them”, said Drug Task Force Director Johnie Carter.

Drug Task Force Board Chairman and 29th Judicial District Attorney Danny Goodman said, “The West Tennessee Violent Crime and Drug Task Force is a valuable tool available to our rural counties.  We are fortunate to have a team of officer who are extremely dedicated and determined to protect our communities through their tireless work efforts.”   I am proud to be a part of this team that ensures Dyer and Lake Counties remain safe for all who live in and visit our towns.”

Drug Task Force Board Member and 28th Judicial District Attorney Frederick H. Agee said, “We appreciate the work of our West Tennessee Violent Crime and Drug Tasks Force. We are proud of the successes that DTF has had in the 28th Judicial District; success that stems directly from their hard work, dedication, and sacrifice. DTF agents play a vital role in keeping Crockett, Gibson, and Haywood Counties one of the safest judicial districts in Tennessee.”
