Randy Lynn Cathey, age 67, born on June 9, 1958, in Haywood County, TN, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at the home of his daughter, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home with Bro. Lonnie Robinson officiating.  Burial will follow at the Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in Brownsville, TN.  Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.

He lived a full life as an entrepreneur, owning and managing many different establishments throughout his career. Known for his adventurous spirit, Randy was always ready to embark on a new venture, embodying the essence of a true businessman with a passion for life.

Randy had a warm personality and a generous heart, demonstrated through his enjoyment in caring for his father and brother. He formed lasting bonds with family and friends alike, often remembered for the mischief he shared with his lifelong friend, David “Spud” Beck.

In his leisure time, Randy enjoyed the great outdoors, partaking in hunting and fishing. He found joy in riding on the Hatchie River and treasured his mornings at Burger King, where he would gather with friends to share stories, laughter, and camaraderie.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter, Misty Long (Morris) of Brownsville, TN, and his son, Brandon Cathey of Pinson, TN. Randy is also survived by his brother, Brian Cathey (Amanda) of Columbus, MS, along with three grandchildren: Sara Martin (Mikey), Lindsey Schlink (Chad), and Stephen Jennings. He will be remembered fondly by his two great-grandchildren, Cas Schlink and Ginny Schlink, as well as his nephew, Craig Cathey (Tonya).

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, George Carl and Margie Leneal Allen Cathey, and his brother, Carl Wayne Cathey.

Pallbearers for the service are Morris Long, Brian Cathey, Craig Cathey, David Beck, Ross Bishop and Tony Rogers.

Randy Lynn Cathey’s legacy of adventure, love for family, and cherished friendships will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.  The family requests that memorials be made to the WTH Hope and Healing Foundation, 569 Skyline Drive, Suite 200, Jackson, TN  38301.  All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
