No murders in 28th Judicial District for 2025, DA Agee reports
The 28th Judicial District had no reported murders in 2025.
This is the first time in at least 20 years that the district did not have a reported murder.

Tuesday, District Attorney Frederick Agee and law enforcement within the district held a news conference to discuss the accomplishment.
The 28th Judicial District consists of three counties which are Haywood, Crockett, and Gibson county. These three counties cover 1,403 square miles.
According to Agee, from 2002 to 2024 there has been at least one murder within these counties. However in 2025, there were no murders to report.
Agee says this achievement would not be possible without the community of the counties and the judges who fight to keep criminals off the street.
“We have good people in Haywood, Crockett, and Gibson counties. We have judges who set appropriate bonds for violent offenders and when they violate their probation, they violate them to serve their sentence. When they have to sentence a defendant, they sentence them appropriately for violent crimes,” said Agee.

He also says it would not be possible without the law enforcement agencies operating within these counties.
The West Tennessee Violent Crime and Drug Task Force for the 28th, 29th, and 30th judicial district announced that thousands of drugs within these areas had been seized in 2025.
Director Johnie Carter says they hope to see this number drop.
“We are starting again this year. Although it’s nice to know that we seized a ton, I’d like to work just as hard and seize a lot less this year,” said Carter.

Agee also says this is a huge milestone for these counties and they will continue to work to make the 28th Judicial District a safe place to live.
There are 32 judicial districts across the state and the 28th district was the only one that did not have a recorded murders in 2025.
The 28th Judicial District has about 85,000 residents across the counties.
