JACKSON, Tenn. — Scammers are on the move in West Tennessee and your information could be at risk if you aren’t careful.

Jackson Energy Authority Email Scam

If you ever have questions about a message claiming to be from Jackson Energy Authority, please contact us directly by calling 731-422-7500.

Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office Scam Call

A phone scam has begun circulating in Hardeman County where scammers call residents and claim their family member has been arrested and is being held at the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office. They then state that, due to overcrowding, money must be paid for an ankle monitor to secure the person’s release.

The sheriff’s office reminds residents that this is a scam.

The Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office will never call to request money, payment for an ankle monitor, or bond over the phone.

Weakley County Sheriff’s Office Scam Call

Another phone call scam has been circulating in Weakley County where an individual claiming to be “Sgt. Dorcy” told a citizen they needed to settle a warrant for missing Jury Duty.

If you receive a call similar to this, immediately hang up. Do not give any personal information, and do not talk to these scammers.

The sheriff’s office asks that if you have a question about the validity of one of these calls, call the Sheriff’s Office at 731-364-5454.

If you believe you are the victim of one of these scams, report it directly to the respective agency, and remember to never share vital information over the phone or through email.
