Expert shares what to do if you received a defective gift over the holidays
The holidays are over and many people may have gotten some gifts that are on the recall list.
We were able to speak with Don Fountain, one of the nation’s leading product safety attorneys, to get some more information on what we need to do.

He says, if you have a gift that you may think is defective, you should check the government website to learn more information.
He also says that if you have given someone a gift that you later found to be recalled, it is important to tell them as soon as possible. If you, a loved one, or someone you know has been injured by a defective item, Fountain tells us the next step.
“If you are injured by a defective product, you have to realize this is no longer a toy or a tool. It is now a piece of evidence and you need to treat it as a piece of evidence that would be used in court. That is exactly what it is,” said Fountain.
