Local businesses celebrate National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

JACKSON, Tenn. — It’s National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and businesses across Jackson are showing their support by making donations to the officials who protect our community.

National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is celebrated every year on January 9. This national day was created in 2015 to fight negativity against officers.

There are several ways to celebrate this day including wearing blue, supporting local departments, displaying blue lights in windows or porches, and sharing positive stories about law enforcement.

Therefore, one business and food truck in Jackson is giving back in a “snacky” way.

The Beauty House of Highland and Trang’s Kitchen and catering donated several snacks and drinks to the Jackson Police Department.

Owner of the Beauty House of Highland Thy Tong says they had an incident where JPD responded and their officers made them feel comfortable and safe so they wanted to do something special for the department.

“We just really appreciated their time. We just wanted to make sure to take time out and give back,” said Tong.

Tong also says they hope to continue to give back to law enforcement.

“It’s a very small token of our appreciation, but we want to continuously be able to do that for them as well,” said Tong.

She wants to thank JPD for all that they have done in the community and their continued efforts.

“We appreciate them and we thank them for their time and all of their efforts and always helping to make us feel safe in our community,” said Tong.

The Beauty House of Highland will continue to take donations at any time for JPD.

One other local business also decided to chime in on fun for national law enforcement appreciation day. 7-3-1 Cookies made customized cookies for the Madison County Sheriff Department.

If you see a law enforcement officer today or any day, thank them for their service to the community and maybe even give a donation.
