Great Day Tuesday, Two Fronts Coming Later this Week!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
After a rainy Friday night into Saturday morning, the weekend was pretty quiet and mild across West Tennessee. The work week started out just as quiet with sunny skies and highs up to around 50° on Monday. Tuesday is going to be the nicest day of the week with highs making it up to around 60° with more sunshine. The first of two fronts this week is coming on Wednesday morning and will bring some rain showers with it. Snow is not expected but another front is coming this weekend that could drop temperatures even more. Catch the latest and full weather forecast coming up right here.
THIS WEEK:
After struggling to get above 50° across West Tennessee this weekend most of us hit that mark on Monday. There was also a light southwest breeze and a lot of sunshine as well making for a decent January Day. The skies will be clear tonight but we are not expecting the winds to turn up calm so overnight lows will only fall down to around the freezing mark in the low 30s tonight. The nicest day of the week is coming in on Tuesday with highs making it up to around 60° with sunny skies. The winds will remain light and come out of the southwest. If there are outdoor chores you need to do this week, Tuesday will be the best day to do them. Tuesday night lows will fall down to the low 40s.
The first of two frontal systems this week is coming on Wednesday morning. Overall it will be a weak front and could bring up to 1/4″ of rain to parts of the Mid South. The front will not be bringing any storms or snow showers with it. Highs will still reach the low 50s early in the day before the cooler air moves in and Wednesdays night lows will dip down into the low 20s by Sunrise Thursday morning. The winds will start out of the west in the morning before turning to the northwest in the afternoon. It will be a breezy day as well with sustained winds between 10-20mph during the day. The morning will start out cloudy but the skies will clear out overnight and that is why we will be some cold overnight.
The wind chill will be in the teens Thursday morning and it will be a cold day with highs only reaching the mid 30s. It will feel in the 20s most of the day with a brisk northwest breeze. Mostly sunny skies are also expected and the skies will be clear Thursday night into Friday morning making for another cold night with lows in the mid 20s again by Friday morning. Friday the winds will shift back to the southwest in the afternoon and that will warm us back up to around 50°. The moisture will increase a bit as well leading to some clouds building in during the afternoon and evening as well. Friday night lows will fall down to around 30° and the next system is coming early in the weekend.
THE WEEKEND:
The big questions in the forecast this week all have to do with what we can expect this weekend. Forecast models have been doing a lot of flip flopping over the last 48 hours as to what is coming our way. The timing and severity of the front as well as the amount of available moisture will be the main factors determining our weather this weekend. As of now we are expecting a mostly dry weekend and a cold one as well. The front should move through early in the day on Friday and could bring a few flurries but measurable rain or snow seems unlikely at this from the storm system. Highs on Saturday will look to be around 40° and Sunday highs are forecast to only reach the mid 30s as of now. Overnight lows both weekend nights look to be around 20°. The winds will come out of the west of northwest this weekend and feels like temperatures in the teens looks likely as of now at times this weekend. There will be more clouds on Saturday than on Sunday.
