Code RED Ministerial Coalition invites residents to celebrate legacy of MLK
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Code Red Ministerial Coalition shares a call to commemorate and celebrate the courage of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The coalition is calling people of good will to join them as they commemorate the memory and celebrate the legacy of Dr. King.
They are inviting all citizens to gather on Sunday, January 18 at 5 p.m. on the campus of Unity Temple Church of God in Christ, located at 369 Lexington Avenue in Jackson for an evening of commemoration and celebration.
“We feel very positive about the upcoming event. We want to, first of all, make everybody welcome. Know that whoever you are or whatever church you belong to, as far as I’m concerned, we aren’t into denominations or ethnic background. We have a cause. America has a cause, we are the United States of America,” said Nathaniel Bond, bishop.
There are several activities honoring the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, but organizers say this one is unique in that it is the offspring of a Coalition of African-American Ministers who have forged a united front to fulfill a mission to cultivate their community.
