Educator of the Week: Madison Carman
SAVANNAH, Tenn. — It’s time now to recognize our Educator of the Week, brought to you by the Tennessee Education Lottery.

Madison Carman is a 3rd grade teacher at Northside Elementary in Savannah.
She tells us what inspired her to pursue education.
“I have always grown up and have loved kids,” Carman said. “Going to church, I have always done children’s church, and I have always helped with church. And I have babysat and have had a love for kids, so it made me want to come be a teacher and strive to be better for the kids and help them in every way.”
Carman has been in education for two years.
She tells what teaching methods she prefers to use in her classes.
” I like to do hands-on, I like to be engaged, just getting the kids interactive and them knowing everything,” said Carman.
Carman enjoys many aspects of teaching, but says her favorite part of teaching is the “aha” moments.
“The ‘aha’ moments, just seeing the kid truly get it, helps you move on and want to help the other kids,” she said.
Carman ends by sharing some words of wisdom for future educators.
“Some advice I would give to others would be don’t give up, even if you see the data, if you get discouraged with the talk around that teachers aren’t important, because you are important and you can change a life, in any kid’s life.”
Carman is now eligible for the Tennessee Education Lottery Educator of the Month award.
