Groovy Roots Indoor Farmers Market
JACKSON Tenn. — All plant lovers have an opportunity to start gardening early with the help of a local plant and garden shop that has everything you need.
If you’re looking for a unique indoor farmers market, we have just the place right here in the Hub City.
For everyone that’s trying to keep it organic, and less chemical based Groovy Roots Plant and Garden Shop is the place you want to be. Everything garden wise you see throughout the shop Nicole Ramsey started herself from seed. Groovy Roots has house plant options including tropical plants, cacti, rubber trees and more. The shop is transitioning into less common house plants while still offering a few beginner options.
“We keep everything organic here so we’re not spraying our plants with harsh chemicals. We make our own soil and we use everything natural too like additives. We’re really your one stop shop because we keep it organic all the way around,” said Nicole Ramsey, owner of Groovy Roots Plant and Garden Shop.
Even though it’s cold, that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on a farmers market especially considering it’s indoors all year round.
“We have purple basil, we have some dill, some poblano peppers started, jalapenos, cabbage, mustard greens, lettuce, regular basil, and a Carolina reaper plant,” said Ramsey.
Here’s what to know if you’re trying to get the green thumb.
“When you’re supposed to start your planning the 31st we have a seed starting class. If you’re interested in starting a garden, and you don’t really know how come on in & get started in a class. Then, get an idea of what you want to grow. Start some seeds with us, and we can go from there,” said Ramsey.
Ramsey reminds us that with a little lighting and a bit of space you’re more than capable of providing at least the basics for yourself and your family. Garden plants are going to want hours of bright light with house plants requiring less direct light or even low light.
“You need to know you water your plants probably about once a week or get a popsicle stick, stick it to the bottom of the pot, and pull it out when you think you need to water. It’s kind of like brownies. If the stick comes out wet don’t water it,” said Nicole Ramsey, owner of Groovy Roots Plant and Garden Shop.
In march and April after the last spring frost you’ll want to make sure to visit Groovy Roots at 114 East Lafayette Street and get prepped for all things gardening wise to get ready for the season.
