Local chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. celebrates Founders’ Day
JACKSON, Tenn.—One local sorority chapter is celebrating a milestone of 106 years of service.
The Nu Gamma Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. gathered Saturday in honor of its 106th Founders Day.
The event took place at West Bemis Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson.
The celebration entitled “United We Stand” included a special message from speaker Raven Williamson, as well as a look back on the tremendous work of the organization.
“If anyone comes and makes an effort to celebrate with us that’s great! I’m always excited about that. The message today, “United We Stand,” doesn’t get any better than that,” said Paige Longe, Chair for New Gamma Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
The local chapter consists of members from all across West Tennessee including Jackson, Bolivar, Martin and Dyersburg. Zeta Phi Beta members are centered on service, scholarship, sisterhood and finer womanhood.
“It is our job as women, that’s a part of this sorority to grab somebody else. Pull them along with us. And let’s grow, let’s go, and let’s get it done! So we put our hands to the plow, ready to work at any time, and we’re just excited that people will come along with us,” Longe said.
The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was originally founded on January 16, 1920.
