Tips to help prepare for looming winter storm
JACKSON, Tenn. — We may be facing our first winter storm of the year this weekend. To help you prepare AAA compiled a thorough list of all the winter essentials, like gear, equipment, and extras.

For those who shop winter supplies locally, there’s spots all over town to get what you need.
“We have sleds which have been already selling like crazy, we have the ice melt to melt the ice, we have snow shovels, faucet covers,” said Cricket Walsmith, Ace Hardware manager.

AAA says one of the single most important tools you can keep in your vehicle during the winter is a snow scraper.
Visibility is quite uncommon during inclement weather but a flurry field of vison paired with a unscraped wind shield could be disastrous.
If you’re staying home, electricity to keep you warm becomes another top priority. If your electricity fails, your pipes, medical devices, as well as food storage could be compromised so generators, as well as fuel to run them, is important.

“Plenty of propane, people are coming in, we’ve had our propane filled every day, AmeriGas is real good about coming in everyday to fill us, we sell hundred of gallons everyday,” said Walsmith.
After successfully preparing yourself, it’s always a best practice to watch out for your neighbors. Finding ways to check in throughout the storm, especially during times with limited communication can keep everyone warm and safe.
