Humboldt Police Sgt. receives commendation
HUMBOLDT, Tenn. – A Humboldt Police Department Sergeant received a letter of commendation for going above and beyond the call of duty.
According to the Humboldt Police Department, Sgt. Jonathan Stewart recognized a citizen was having an issue with their water and he spent his time and own money to help fix the problem.
On January 15, 2026, Sgt. Jonathan Stewart responded to a call for service at a residence on North 21st Avenue in Humboldt, Tennessee. During the call, Sgt. Stewart discovered the home did not have running water due to a leak. Without hesitation, Sgt. Stewart located the source of the leak and, using his own personal funds, went to a local hardware store to purchase the necessary supplies to make repairs. He then repaired the leak and restored running water to the residence during one of the coldest times of the year, when access to running hot water is essential.
Sgt. Stewart’s compassion, initiative, and selfless act of kindness exemplify his character as a law enforcement officer and truly reflect the meaning of “serve and protect.” His actions went above and beyond the call of duty, and we commend Sgt. Stewart for his dedication to the community and his genuine concern for those in need.
