NWS issues Ice Storm Warning and Winter Storm Warning

WEST TENNESSEE – The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the majority of western Tennessee and an Ice Storm Warning for SE corner of Tennessee.

Ice Storm Warning (Extreme)

Chester; Decatur; Hardeman; Hardin; Henderson; McNairy

* WHAT…Significant icing expected. Total snow and sleet
accumulations between 1 and 3 inches and ice accumulations between
one half and one inch.

* WHERE…Portions of North Mississippi and West Tennessee.

* WHEN…From 6 PM Friday to 6 PM CST Sunday.

* IMPACTS…Expect power outages that last more than a day and
extensive tree damage due to the ice. Travel could be impossible.
The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. Prepare for
