Terry Ann Thompson
Terry Ann Thompson, age 68, beloved mother, sister, and cherished friend, passed away on January 19, 2026, in Memphis, TN. Born on July 14, 1957, in Jackson, TN, Terry was a trailblazer in her community as one of the first female funeral directors in West Tennessee. During her time at Brownsville Funeral Home, she served many families with compassion and dignity, always taking pride in her important work. Later in her career, she continued to contribute to her community by working for the Haywood County Board of Education. The family has honored her wishes for cremation. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Mallonee officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM.
Terry was known for her kind and loving nature, often considered a mother to many children who were not her own. She held a special place in the hearts of all who knew her, particularly for her unwavering support and the warmth she shared with family and friends. She loved spending time with her loved ones, creating countless cherished memories that will be forever etched in their hearts.
She is survived by her devoted mother, Geraldine Brock Thompson of Jackson, TN; her sons, Gerald Leek (Melissa) of Memphis, TN, and Matthew Leek (Chrissy) of Drummonds, TN; her daughter, Casey Leek Bell (Kyle) of Jackson, TN; and her sister, Hope Thompson of Jackson, TN. Terry was also a loving aunt to her nieces, Bailey and Maci Sumler, and a proud grandmother to her grandchildren, Rowan, Navina, Xane, Chloe, Miah, Emily, Lydia, Danni, Lila and Coraline. Her legacy continues with her great-grandchildren, Aurora, Fiona, and Ezra.
Terry Thompson was preceded in death by her father, Gerald H. Thompson.
Terry Ann Thompson’s contributions to her field and the love she shared with those around her will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched. The family requests that memorials be made to the Crockett County NOAH, P.O. Box 94, Alamo, TN 38001. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
