JPD shares proper way to report stalled, wrecked vehicles
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Police Department released a statement Monday detailing the system it is using to track which stalled or wrecked vehicles have been checked amid extreme weather conditions.

View the full statement below:
Jackson Police Officers are continuing to check on stalled vehicles and wrecked vehicles on and alongside the roadways. Our Dispatch Center is getting flooded with calls from citizens reporting these vehicles. Currently, the process JPD is using to track which vehicles have been checked on is the flagging of these vehicles with yellow Caution or Crime Scene tape.
If you come across a vehicle you wish to be checked on, here are a few tips on how you can help us. 1.) Check to see if the vehicle has been “flagged” with yellow Caution/Crime Scene tape. If it is flagged, be comforted in knowing that we have already checked on this vehicle. If it has not been flagged, 2.) Verify the license plate for us, if possible, so that we can be sure we are responding to the correct vehicle. 3.) Get a proper Vehicle Make, Model, and Color. 4.) Get a good location.
The roadway it is located on is a great start, but then, if possible, get either the nearest address or the nearest cross street. Thank you for your help!
