Crockett County official provides status update on roads
CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — We wanted to head to some of our surrounding counties to learn how winter recovery efforts were going.

We came to Crockett County to learn about what has gone on over the last few days as well as some of the work that has gone on to try and get things back to normal.
We spoke with Stephen Sutton, Public Information Officer with the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office, who told us a few of those things.
“Our medical services, emergency medical teams are operating normally today,” Sutton said. “There was some refreezing out on our roads. So, we’re continuing to excercise caution. We’ve seen a couple falls and we expect those to increase as people try to venture out.”

Of course there are some areas in Crockett County where the roads are starting to look back to normal. However, Sutton tells us that is not everywhere.
“The rural roads are in pretty tough shape. Highway 412 and our highways are in pretty good shape here. Numerous farmers have been out helping their neighbors and I can’t say enough what a great blessing that is. Especially for our emergency teams,” said Sutton.
Just because the snow, the sleet, and the freezing rain are not here right now does not mean that problems still cannot arise.

“I think some of the greatest dangers are some of the ice that is prevalent, especially around people’s homes and driveways where there hasn’t been any blades or salt applied,” Sutton said.
One thing Sutton wanted to mention to us is how hard the Gibson Electric teams has been working. There were very minimal power outages around this area.

There are also dangers inside of the home. Pipes bursting, as well as space heaters causing fires, are more common during these situations.
