NASHVILLE, Tenn.–The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency provided a briefing Wednesday.
It highlighted TEMA’s top priority: restoring power for Tennesseans as quickly and safely as possible.
Across the state, there are 16 debris-clearing teams that are actively cutting and removing downed trees and storm debris to reopen roads, restore emergency access, and allow utility crews to reach impacted areas.

“TEMA’s number one mission is supporting rapid restoration of power, The State of Tennessee is working to accomplish this by finding teams and resources to cut and clear downed trees out of the way, get debris out of the roadway so that line crews and responders and utilities can go and get power restored and restore access to resources that folks might need in an emergency.” said Patrick C. Sheehan, TEMA Director.

Sheehan says crews are focused on primary routes, emergency access roads, and the hardest-hit communities first, because clearing trees is the gateway to recovery—protecting lives, restoring critical services, and helping power get back on for families across Tennessee.
