Another Cold Weather Advisory is Out Friday Night into Sunday Morning
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Everyone topped 40° today in West Tennessee and that helped melt more snow and ice off the roadways, but many are still covered in snow and will refreeze again tonight with overnight lows falling into the mid 20s. We will only reach the low to mid 30s on Friday as a front will move through early in the day. It looks like a mostly dry system for us but a few flurries will be possible. Friday night lows will fall down to around 12° in Jackson but it is also going to be quite breezy. That will create a wind chill between 0 and -5° Saturday morning. Another warm up is coming early next week but a midweek system will try to bring some showers our way as well. But will it bring rain, snow or ice? We will tell you all about it coming up here.

The next front approached on Wednesday but struggled to push completely through West Tennessee and stalled up just north of us. Temperatures stayed mild but we did see morning clouds on Wednesday that cleared out in the afternoon. Highs remained in the mid 30s on Wednesday and we were even warmer and reached the mid 40s on Thursday. Thursday night lows will fall down to the mid 20s under a mostly cloudy sky. The winds will turn to the northeast overnight as the front gets going. After the front moves in late Thursday night or Friday morning, cooler weather will slowly creep back in. Highs will struggle to get above freezing on Friday only reaching the low to maybe mid 30s. Expect a mostly cloudy day on Friday with a steady breeze out of the north. Friday night lows will be quite chilly falling down to the low teens, but the winds will make it feel even colder. The wind chill could fall down between 0 and -5° at times.
THIS WEEKEND:
After starting out close to 10° to kick off the day, highs on Saturday will only make it up to the low 20s° with a wind chill in the single digits most of the day. We will see partly cloudy skies and possibly some clearing Saturday evening into Saturday night. Another cold air advisory has been issued from Friday night through the middle of the day on Sunday. The winds will be blustery on Saturday and come out of the north between 10-20 MPH. Saturday night lows could drop into the single digits depending on the amount of cloud cover we get Sunday morning. The winds will weaken on Sunday and we should see more sunshine, this will warm us back up to the low 30s. Sunday night lows will be mild and fall down to the low 20s as a southwest breeze is expected to return late Sunday and stick around into early next week. We are not expecting much to melt off this weekend as temperatures will be near or below freezing all weekend long.
NEXT WEEK:
The next system is coming in the middle of next week and as of now, it looks like a rainmaker for us here in West Tennessee; but areas up north near the Kentucky border cannot rule out a wintry mix showing up. Highs on Monday will warm back up into the mid 40s and that will start melting more snow again. Monday night lows will fall down near 30° as a west or southwest breeze will be hanging around. Expect a mostly sunny day on Monday but more clouds will be moving in late in the day on Tuesday. The next front will pass by sometime late on Tuesday and could bring some cold rain showers our way. The system will not bring much in the way of showers or way and if it does, snow and ice chances are looking quite slim at this time. Highs will reach the upper 40s on Tuesday and fall down to around 40° on Wednesday. The big question is, how cold will we get by Tuesday night if the showers are falling and we are thinking low to mid 30s is where we will bottom out. So we will need to monitor the forecast closely for next week as being off by a few degrees could change up the forecast.
