Boil water notice issued for Gibson County

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. – The Gibson County Municipal Water District has issued a Boil Water Notice for the Concord and Idlewild areas.

The district said the issue is caused by low water pressure as a result of broken water lines in the system.

Concord is the rural area east of Trenton and the Idlewild area is the rural area outside the Bradford city limits.

The city of Bradford is NOT included in the notice.

The department said there is no indication that contamination has occurred, but the notice is a precaution.

The Boil Water Notice remains in effect until further notice. Before drinking or cooking with water, residents are urged to boil the water first.

Residents should also take the following steps before using the water:

1.) Prior to boiling, the water should be strained through a clean cloth to remove any sediments or debris.

2.) The water should then be heated to a vigorous boil and the rolling boil should be maintained for at least one minute to ensure disinfection.
