City of Jackson’s Black History Month celebration kicks off Friday

JACKSON, Tenn. — The City of Jackson is set to host a Black History Month celebration.

This is the third year the city will be hosting the event. Several groups, students, and a musical performer are set to participate this year.

The city invites everyone to come out and be a part of the celebration this year.

“It’s a nice activity. It’s a celebration you can bring your children out to. We’re hoping to have a great big turn out this year,” said Christiana Gallagher, community relations director for the City of Jackson.

The opening celebration will begin on Friday, February 6, at 4 p.m. at Jackson City Hall. The closing ceremony will be held Friday, February 27.
