FHU to offer graduate certificates in Old Testament, New Testament studies
PRESS RELEASE FROM FREED-HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY:
HENDERSON, Tennessee – (Feb. 4, 2026) – Freed-Hardeman University will offer graduate certificates in Old Testament and New Testament Studies beginning in Fall 2026 as part of its ongoing effort to prepare church leaders and Bible students for Christian service. Designed for ministers, Bible class teachers and those seeking deeper understanding of Scripture, the programs provide structured study without requiring pursuit of a full graduate degree.

“The Graduate School of Theology has a long history of equipping ministers for effective service,” Dr. Trent Adams, assistant dean of Graduate Admissions, said. “These new 100% online certificate programs, alongside the Graduate Certificate in Counseling for Church Leaders launched last year, extend that focus to elders, teachers and church members seeking deeper biblical understanding and faithful service to the Kingdom.”
Each certificate requires completion of four online graduate-level classes in the chosen discipline. Courses may also apply toward a Master of Arts in Old Testament or New Testament, if desired. Students in these programs will learn to read the text in its ancient historical and cultural contexts while developing tools for faithful interpretation and spiritual growth.
Dr. Richard A. Brumback III, director of the FHU Graduate School of Theology, believes in the benefits of the program. “By digging deeply into the Bible text, students not only gain knowledge and insight but also acquire a deeper understanding of Scripture that helps them connect with God and Christian living.”
