JPD investigating apartment complex shooting
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Tuesday, Feb. 3, at the Park Ridge Apartment Complex.
Officers responded to the complex off North Parkway around 2:00 p.m., where they located a resident of the apartment complex suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Witnesses reported that the resident had exchanged gunfire with another male in the parking lot before the suspect fled in a silver Dodge Dart.
Using the Flock camera system, investigators located the vehicle around 4:15 p.m. near Lower Brownsville Rd. and Airways Blvd. The Tennessee Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop, discovering bullet holes in the car and finding that the driver had also been struck by gunfire.
A passenger, Jomaria Haynes, 23, was identified by witnesses as the individual involved in the exchange of gunfire at Park Ridge Apartment complex. Officers recovered the firearm used in the incident from the vehicle. Haynes was charged Feb. 5 with Aggravated Assault and is scheduled for arraignment tomorrow in Jackson City Court.
The motive remains under investigation.
