Presidents Day reminder: Post offices are closed, but customers still have convenient USPS options

TENNESSEE — The U.S. Postal Service is reminding customers in Tennessee that Post Office locations will be closed and regular mail delivery will not occur on Presidents’ Day, Monday, Feb. 16, 2026.

While retail counters will be closed, customers can still use USPS tools and services that support simple, convenient mailing — part of the Postal Service’s recent efforts to modernize the customer experience.

“Even on a federal holiday, customers have options to plan ahead and stay connected,” said Omar Coleman, Tennessee District Manager. “The Postal Service has continued to improve the tools and features people use most, and we encourage customers to take advantage of those convenient resources — especially if they’re planning to mail First-Class letters or important documents.”

What customers can do on Presidents Day

Customers can still:

  • Use usps.com anytime: Buy postage online, print shipping labels, request services, and find location information.
  • Check what’s coming: Informed Delivery is available for eligible addresses at usps.com.
  • Access self-service at select locations: Some sites offer after-hours lobby access for PO Boxes and self-service kiosks.

Plan ahead to avoid last-minute stress

USPS encourages customers to mail time-sensitive letters or documents and complete in-person retail transactions before the holiday weekend and to use online services when convenient. Normal retail hours and delivery operations will resume on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026.
