DYER, Tenn.–One local town holds a public meeting to discuss their intentions to submit a grant to the state that would lead to being a benefit to the community.

Monday evening, a meeting was held in City Hall in the town of Dyer.

Up for discussion is the city’s intent to submit an application to the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) for a recreation trail grant.

Leaders say they’re asking for input from residents regarding recreational needs within the city.

“Our big goal is to bring more people into the City of Dyer, make it more community-friendly, give the kids something to do, and give parents thanks to their kids”, said Mayor Chris Younger of Dyer.

Monday’s meeting is the first of two scheduled to discuss submitting the application for this grant.
The second meeting is scheduled for March 9 at noon.
