2 injured in Wednesday night shooting

BOLIVAR, Tenn. — The Bolivar Police Department (BPD) is investigating a Wednesday afternoon shooting that left two people injured.

According to BPD, at approximately 5:46 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Taylor Cove regarding a shooting. When officers arrived, they located two individuals injured in the shooting.

BPD said criminal investigators responded to the scene and the incident remains an active investigation. According to BPD, investigators are on the scene conducting interviews and processing evidence.

“The safety of our community is our top priority. Incidents involving gunfire in residential neighborhoods place
innocent citizens, including children, at serious risk. Our officers and investigators are working diligently to
identify those responsible and ensure they are held accountable. We encourage anyone with information related
to this incident to contact the Bolivar Police Department,” said Bolivar Police Chief Michael Jones.

Bolivar City Mayor Julian McTizic released a statement condemning the violence.

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this violent incident, especially the individuals who were injured.
Violence has no place in our community. The City of Bolivar fully supports the Bolivar Police Department as
they continue their investigation and work to keep our neighborhoods safe,” said McTizic. 

When our crews arrived on the scene Wednesday night at approximately 9:45 p.m., law enforcement officials were still on the scene processing evidence and interviewing witnesses.
