Non profit donates protective vest to Medina PD K9
MEDINA, Tenn. — One loyal K9 is gifted a new life saving accessory.

The Medina police department’s K9 Axle received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a special donation from non-profit organization, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.
The donation was sponsored by Don and Misty Fike of Galesburg, Illinois. The vest is embroidered with the sentiment, “Born to love. Trained to serve. Loyal always.”

“The dogs are just like us, you know if they get injured they are treated the same way a police officer is. They get out on them calls and we’re vested up and we have all our gear on and it’s just a smart thing to have the same things for those dogs to keep them protected,” explained Lt. R. Jay Phelps with the Medina police department.
The department has two K9s and they are currently working on getting their other K9 a vest through the program as well.
