Our Jackson Home releases open calls for temporary mural projects for West TN artists
PRESS RELEASE FROM OUR JACKSON HOME:
JACKSON, Tenn. — (February 16, 2026): Our Jackson Home, in collaboration with the City of Jackson, has released two open calls for a new sidewalk art installation near the Carnegie Center for Arts and History and two new temporary alleyway murals off of Liberty Street in Downtown Jackson.

The deadline for artists to apply for these projects is March 6, 2026. Any West Tennessee-based artists are eligible to apply for one or both projects.
The goals of the sidewalk mural project are to beautify the surrounding area and encourage pedestrian walkability. The chosen artist will be selected by City of Jackson Public Art Commission members and community volunteers, and the artist will install the new sidewalk art with the assistance of student volunteers. Any artist or artist team who is local to West Tennessee is invited to apply. The installation will take place in late spring 2026.
Our Jackson Home is also seeking two qualified local artists to paint temporary murals during the University of Tennessee Ag Center’s Annual Plant Sale on May 1-2. The murals will be displayed in Downtown Jackson’s Arts District for one calendar year after the event. The chosen artists will design and paint murals that are a visual celebration of native West Tennessee plant life, but remain timeless and appropriate for year-round display downtown.
“Both the sidewalk art and the alleyway murals will add vibrant street art to Jackson’s growing Arts District. We’re excited to continue to partner with the City of Jackson and local artists to beautify our downtown,” Lizzie Emmons, Program Director of Our Jackson Home, said.
