Warm & Humid Mid Week, Late Week Rain & Storm Chances Back!

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

After a soggy Valentine’s Weekend across West Tennessee, we started out dry to kick off the work week. Many people saw over 2″ of well needed rain that definitely helped out with the drought situation we are currently in. Highs reached up to around 70° today and we will be near that number the next couple days too. Tonight we will fall down to the mid 40s, but as the humidity moves in on Tuesday, overnight lows will only fall down to the upper 50s during the middle of the week. Highs are forecast to reach the mid 70s on Thursday before the next system moves in. There is a lot of uncertainty on the timing, location and severity of the late week system, but we need to watch the forecast closely as it does have the potential to bring some more heavy rain and possibly, some strong storms with it back to West Tennessee. Catch the latest forecast details coming up here.

THIS WEEK:

We sure needed that rain, but some areas saw a little too much close to 3″ this weekend that led to some minor flooding concerns. More rain is in the forecast later this week and maybe a round of strong storms could be coming as well. The forecast is quite inconsistent as of now to the timing and location of the biggest storm threat later this week, but we are going to work on ironing out that forecast before the system gets here. We are also going to be very warm and humid for a few days and a return to winter-like temperatures could be on the way next week.

Monday started out very foggy in the morning but turned out to be a really nice day with highs making it up to around 70° for all of us and calm winds. The winds will stay calm tonight but pick back up quickly on Tuesday. We will see partly cloudy skies tonight and overnight lows will dip down to the mid 40s to kick off our Tuesday. More clouds will move in during the day on Tuesday and the winds will shift to the south increasing the humidity, but the clouds should block us from getting much above 70° in the afternoon. Tuesday night will be warm and humid with morning lows only dipping down to the upper 50s to kick off our Wednesday.

The next system will get closer on Wednesday and could spark up a few showers or even a weak storm or two. Severe weather and widespread rain is not in the forecast on Wednesday and most of us will miss out on the rain. Rain chances are only 20-30% but it is going to be breezy and humid all day long. Highs will again make it up to around 70° with mostly cloudy skies. Another warm and humid night is coming Wednesday night into Thursday morning with overnight lows again only dropping to around 60°.

The next front is going to move through late Thursday and could bring a round of heavy rain showers and some strong storms with it. As of now, the main threat for severe weather looks to be just north of us, but if the system shifts even a little bit, it could become a bigger concern for us as it slides by. We will need to monitor the forecast very closely this week and over the next day or two, we should have a much better idea as to who will be in the main threat zone for storms Thursday night. Highs on Thursday are going to be close to record highs in the mid to upper 70s. It will again be another humid and windy day with partly to mostly cloudy skies.

As the front moves through Thursday night, lows will start to drop and expect to kick off our Friday around 50°. Highs on Friday will depend on when the cooler air behind the front moves in, but we are expecting highs to reach the mid 60s still on Friday before seeing temperatures continuing to fall off into the weekend. The winds will come out of the northwest most of the day on Friday and some showers and storms will be possible in the morning hours before clearing out later in the day. Friday night lows will be a little cooler falling down to the low 40s to kick off the weekend.

THIS WEEKEND:
Temperatures are going to be a little cooler this weekend back down to around normal for this time of the year. Highs on Saturday will reach the mid to upper 50s but highs on Sunday will only make it up to around 50° as the cooler air will continue to move in behind the front. Saturday night we will see temperatures fall back down into the mid 30s for the first time in well over a week. Sunday night lows could fall back down below freezing with morning lows in the mid to upper 20s to kick off next week. The winds will come out of the northeast on Saturday and northwest on Sunday. It is going to be breezy all weekend long as the return of winter like temperatures push in behind the front. Expect a partly cloudy day on Saturday but a mostly sunny day on Sunday. Sunny skies and chilly weather is on the way to kick off next week.
