Few Rain Showers Friday Night, Chilly Weekend on the Way!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
We are watching one rouge, non severe storm in McNairy county that will be moving into Hardin county, including Savannah around 9:30. Expect some thunder and lightning, possibly some 30 MPH winds. Severe weather is NOT coming tonight in West Tennessee. Scattered showers will continue to move through over the next few hours tonight with most of the rain staying south of I-40. Another front is going to move through on Saturday, but it looks like a mostly dry front. A few flurries cannot be ruled out close to the Kentucky border, and a few spitting showers could accompany the front in the afternoon as well. The big story with the front is the cool down that will push in Saturday night and stick around through Tuesday morning. We could fall down near 20° Sunday night with a wind chill near 10° on Monday morning. We should warm back up quickly into the middle of next week and that will bring the next shot for some rain showers and maybe a few storms back to West Tennessee. Catch the full forecast coming up here.
THIS WEEK:
A cold front moved through late Thursday and brought a round of rain showers and some weak storms with it. The main threat for severe weather was just north of us, but we did see a few lightning strikes and there was a few periods of heavy rain for some of us. Highs on Thursday made it all the way up to the upper 70s before the front moved in. We did set the record in Jackson reaching up to 78° for the first time since Christmas Eve. As the front moves through Thursday night, lows will start to drop and expect to kick off our Friday in the mid 40s.
Highs on Friday reached up to around 60° for us in Jackson. It was a cooler day up north under the mostly cloudy skies and it was warmer down south where the sun peaked through for a bit in the afternoon. Temperatures will fall off into the weekend behind another front coming by early on Saturday. The winds were light and came out of the northwest most of the day on Friday but should be calm for the most part tonight. Another round of showers will come up from the south this evening and linger around tonight. Severe weather or storms are not expected but a few of us could see another 1/4″ of rain, but most of us will see less. Over half of us, will not see any rain at all tonight. Friday night lows will be a little cooler falling down to the low 40s to kick off the weekend and the clouds will hang around most of the night.
