Forgiveness Sunday returns to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church
JACKSON, Tenn.—One local church honors the faith filled tradition of Forgiveness Sunday.
St. Nicholas Orthodox Christian Church offered its Forgiveness Sunday service.
The service took place from 1 until 2:30 p.m. at the church located at 419 Old Humboldt Road in Jackson.
During the service, members of the congregation are asked to join in practicing the act of forgiveness within the community of the church.
“Throughout the country, all Orthodox Christians will start their Lent, their journey through Christ’s resurrection tomorrow. So, what we are about to do, it’s called Forgiveness Vespers which is the Orthodox Churches’ First Service of the Lenten period,” said Hannah Snowden, member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Christian Church.
Honoring the service is the first act as Lent begins.
