Short Cold Snap, Warm Again By Tuesday
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
A strong rush of Arctic air is pushing through the Great Plains and even into the Mid-South. The falling temperatures began on Saturday as northwest winds have kicked up and brought temperatures down region-wide. The cold snap will be short-lived as warmer weather is back in the forecast even before mid-week. We have the details right here.
Tonight:
Winds will be steady out of the northwest around 10-20 MPH, so not only will it be below freezing tonight, it will feel even colder. Wind chill values could fall down into the single digits overnight. Heading into Monday, things will not warm up very much.
Monday:
Skies will be clear on Monday, although it won’t be very pleasant. Temperatures will be hanging around freezing all afternoon, but again, the winds will have things feeling MUCH colder than your thermometer will tell you. We could see those Wind Chill values as low as 5-7 degrees region-wide.
Tuesday:
Tuesday will see us climb up to 30-35 degrees over the course of the morning. Temperatures will start in the teens, but by the time we get to about 3:00 in the afternoon, temperatures will be knocking on the door of the mid-50s. There are no showers or storms in the forecast despite this wild swing in temperatures.
Wednesday:
Wednesday will be fairly warm with temperatures getting into the low 60s. Cloud cover will likely be very widespread over West Tennessee. There is a chance for showers and storms to move into the area overnight. The chances will start around 40% then increase to about 80% into the overnight hours. Instability is expected to remain limited so widespread severe weather will not be expected.
Thursday Onward:
Temperatures will remain above average through the weekend. There is another slight chance for showers on Saturday, but right now we have it at about 20%. This next weekend looks to be really nice so long as the rain stays away on Saturday. Sunday looks to be a little cooler, but it will still be around seasonally average, so expect temperatures in the mid-50s.
