Man faces charges after allegedly failing to report death, moving body in Weakley County
MARTIN, Tenn. — A man faces multiple charges after authorities say he failed to report a death, moved the body of the deceased and attempted to tamper with evidence at a Martin residence.
According to an affidavit filed in Weakley County, the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Old Troy Road in Martin on February 19 in reference to a possible dead body on the property.
Deputies found the body of Alexander Warren and determined that he had been deceased for “some time” in an upstairs bedroom.
Investigators say Elisha Stewart, 24, discovered Warren’s body on or around February 13 and did not notify authorities.

According to the affidavit, Stewart moved Warren’s body from inside the residence to the backyard and then attempted to clean the upstairs floor to remove evidence of death.
Stewart is also accused of killing a small dog belonging to Warren, with no justifiable purpose stated.
Stewart is facing the following charges:
- Abuse of a corpse
- Fabricating or tampering with evidence
- Failure to report discovery of a dead body
- Aggravated cruelty to animals
At this time, no further information has been released by authorities. A court hearing will be held for Stewart on March 4.
