Jackson State reopens F.E. Wright Administration Building following renovation
PRESS RELEASE FROM JACKSON STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE:
JACKSON, Tenn. – Jackson State Community College (JSCC) officially reopened the F.E. Wright Administration Building on its Jackson Campus during a grand reopening ribbon-cutting event on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

Originally dedicated in October of 1967 in honor of the college’s first president, Dr. F.E. Wright, the nearly 19,000 square-foot facility underwent an extensive 16-month renovation that now aligns the building with the modern architecture seen of existing buildings on the college’s Jackson Campus.
The building was selected for renovation shortly after JSCC President Dr. Carol Rothstein was installed as president. The building, having seen many iterations since its inception, called for an extensive renovation to better accommodate the needs of the growing college and bring the building into the modern age.
“As we set our sights on the great things that lie ahead for Jackson State, our facilities must be able to keep up with us,” said Dr. Rothstein during the ribbon cutting ceremony. “What once served our college in 1967, now needs to reflect today’s world, one guided by modern technology, new expectations, and the dynamic ways we work and serve our students. This renovation honors our past while preparing for the bright future ahead. It is designed to support today’s operational demands, and ensure our teams have the tools they need to continue providing exceptional service and work.”
Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) Chancellor Dr. Flora Tydings included opening remarks during the ceremony, expressing her gratitude for the updated facility, and the work being done at Jackson State.
“This campus is your campus and Jackson State is your college, said Chancellor Tydings. “Our goal is to make it the best place for learning and expanding your horizons. This renovated building, and the other new facilities on campus, help fulfill that goal. We want the Jackson-Madison County community and all of West Tennessee to be proud of this campus and this college – Jackson’s community college, where you can earn an associate degree and enter a great career immediately – or transfer on to a great university of your choice to continue your education.”
During the ceremony, Dr. Rothstein also included hints on what is to come for the college as she looks to make additional facility upgrades across the campus to provide the best possible learning environment for students and that reflect the quality of education students receive.
Kyle Spurgeon, TBR Regent and Greater Jackson Chamber CEO was in attendance for the ceremony to celebrate the building’s opening.
