Newbern man charged in recent ‘porch pirate’ theft
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE NEWBERN POLICE DEPARTMENT:
DYER COUNTY, Tenn. — The Newbern Police Department has identified and charged a suspect in connection with a recent “porch pirate” theft reported earlier this month.

On February 3, 2026, officers with the Newbern Police Department responded to a theft complaint at a residence on Nora Drive. Upon arrival, responding officers were advised that an unknown white male had entered the property and removed several delivered packages from the front porch before leaving the area.
Following further investigation, the suspect was identified as Larry Holland, Jr., age 37, of Dyersburg, Tennessee. As a result of the investigation, warrants were obtained charging Holland with Criminal Trespass and Theft of Property Under $1,000.
Holland is currently being held at the Obion County Law Enforcement Center on unrelated charges. He will be transferred to Dyer County upon his release to appear in Newbern Municipal Court.
The Newbern Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office. We appreciate their cooperation and continued partnership in helping keep our communities safe.
