Authorities confirm source of loud “booms” in Madison County

MADISON CO., Tenn.—Several residents throughout Madison County and beyond reported hearing loud noises or “booms” just after 10 a.m. Sunday. We reached out to local authorities for more information.

PUBLIC NOTICE – NORTH MADISON COUNTY

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous calls regarding loud explosive sounds heard throughout the northern part of Madison County. We want to assure our citizens that deputies have investigated and identified the source of the noise. The sounds are the result of controlled detonations being used to remove and clear local beaver dams in the area. We appreciate the public’s vigilance and encourage anyone who observes suspicious activity or has concerns to contact our office at (731) 423-6000.
