Claire Pruett selected as February 2026 Employee of the Month
JACKSON, Tenn. – The City of Jackson’s Employee of the Month initiative is designed to formally recognize and reward city employees who consistently demonstrate exceptional performance, professionalism, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to public service.
Claire Pruett has been selected as the Employee of the Month for February 2026. Pruett represents our city’s Office of Innovation.
According to her nomination, Pruett was responsible for executing the City’s Cold Weather Shelter Plan and coordinating with community organizations to ensure the homeless are safe in times of inclement weather. In roughly 72 hours, Claire organizes an effort to house, feed, and supply two different shelters for 10 nights (Jan. 23 – Feb.2, 2026). She organized and coordinated donations from restaurants, businesses, and churches, and recruited and trained over 50 volunteers from the community. All these efforts ensured that over 60 homeless men and women were safe and well-fed in arguably the worst winter storm Jackson has experienced in decades. “I am honored to receive this recognition,” said Pruett. “I am grateful to be able to do meaningful work for our City and to work alongside an amazing team.”

Program Details
Eligibility: All full-time and part-time City of Jackson employees are eligible for nomination, with the exclusion of Supervisors and Department Heads.
Nomination Process: Nominations are submitted monthly by Supervisors and Department Heads. Each submission must include specific examples and dates of the employee’s outstanding actions or performance, providing a clear basis for the recognition.
Selection Committee: A dedicated selection committee will review all monthly nominations and randomly select the Employee of the Month from the pool of outstanding candidates.
Recognition and Reward: The chosen Employee of the Month will receive the following: a formal Certificate of Recognition, public announcements of their achievement through internal communications, City of Jackson social media channels, press release, as well as a gift card as a token of appreciation.
Administration: The City of Jackson Human Resources Department will administer the program, overseeing the nomination and selection processes, maintaining comprehensive records, and ensuring consistency and fairness in all aspects of the program.
