Jackson residents weigh in on U.S. strikes against Iran

JACKSON, Tenn. — Residents in downtown Jackson shared mixed reactions Monday to the ongoing military operation against Iran, with many saying they want more information about the U.S. involvement in the conflict.

Most residents approached by reporters were hesitant to speak on camera but were willing to share their thoughts. Many said they were not as informed on the situation as they would like to be.

One veteran approached reporters and said he supports the effort fully, citing four deployments dating back to 1979.

Karen Crenshaw, a Jackson resident, said her trust in the federal government has declined over several years.

“I grew up in the 60s and 70s and we used to believe in our country and think that the government was on our side and that they cared about the people, but I don’t feel that way anymore and I don’t think a lot of people do,” Crenshaw said.

Crenshaw, along with many other West Tennesseans, said they are worried about the repercussions of American involvement in the operation.

“I’m disturbed by what could happen and concerned what could happen to our country with his [President Trump’s] wild behavior,” Crenshaw said.

Several residents said prayer is necessary for America.

The conflict is ongoing. Updates on the operations will be reported as they become available.
