Gusty Wind Storms Coming Saturday Morning/Afternoon to West Tennessee!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Here is a look at the potential timing for the gusty wind storms to move into West Tennessee on Saturday. A few severe thunderstorms will be possible with gusty winds being the main threat. Although not likely, a couple quick spin up tornadoes or brief pockets of nickel size hail could develop along the line or in the storm clusters. Stay with WBBJ all morning and afternoon long and look for live hits on our online platforms. We will have continuous coverage if there are any tornado warnings or if the storms become significant. Stay inside once these storms show up in your area.
Some gusty wind storms look to be on the way to kick off our weekend. Overall the severe weather threat is minimal, but a couple severe wind storms could develop along the line as it moves through between 9am and 3pm across West Tennessee on Saturday. The most likely time for the main line to come through Jackson will be between 10am and noon. Expect to pick up over an inch and rain with some areas seeing close to 2″ before things move out by Saturday evening. Sunday is going to be cooler but a dry day. More showers and storms are in the forecast next week too with a couple chances for severe weather to make another appearance. Catch the latest coming up here.
THIS WEEK:
Both Thursday and Friday highs will be around 80° near record highs. The record on Thursday is 77° and it was broken when we hit 79° in Jackson Thursday afternoon. The record on Friday is 80° and the thick clouds early in the day stopped us from making it 3 days in a row. We saw a mix of sun and clouds both days. Also, both days, a few showers or weak storms popped up just due to the heat and humidity alone. The clouds will break up a bit Friday night before moving back on in thick on Saturday. The winds have been a bit breezy at times and came out of the south to wrap up the work week. The winds will be a bit breezy Friday night into Saturday morning. Strong storms or severe weather is not expected until Saturday morning/afternoon. We should fall down to the mid 60s tonight and stay warm and humid all night long.

NEXT WEEK:
There will be some isolated pop up showers and storms on Monday, but we are not expecting the type of storms to warrant a severe weather concern. There is a more concerning set up coming in the middle of next week. The timing appears to be sometime from Tuesday night through Wednesday night. Severe weather seems likely with that event, but again it will depend a lot on the timing of the event for us. We will be watching that set up closely early next week. Highs will reach the upper 70s on Monday, low 80s on Tuesday and around 80° on Wednesday. Morning lows will only fall to the mid 60s due to the high humidity and dew point that will be sticking around for the first half of the week. We could again be near record highs and the humidity could be intense at times in the middle of next week. Expect a mix of sun and clouds most of the week as well.
