Benton County declares Day of Hope for addiction and mental health recovery
BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. — Benton County has officially marked a Day of Hope.

At the Benton County Courthouse Monday, Mayor Mark Ward issued a formal declaration recognizing recovery, resilience, and the courage it takes to face addiction and mental health challenges.
The event brought community members together to honor those on the journey, support loved ones and neighbors, and send the clear message that “in Benton County, hope lives here.”
“Here in Benton County, what that looks like though, with proclamation signing is that we have our government agencies and our people in the community, from the top down being a part of this. Not just the individuals actively struggling with an addiction–those that are in recovery as well–but also our community at large being a part of this,” said Melesa Lassiter, regional overdose prevention specialist.
For so many people, the hope of a better tomorrow is the strength that fuels the journey forward or supports a loved one, friend, or neighbor along the way.
