Audrey wore many hats throughout her vibrant life. She was an industrious spirit, operating a sewing business and skillfully driving a Northwest Transportation bus, ensuring that the passengers of her community arrived safe and sound. Her remarkable career also included valuable contributions at Kellwood Factory and Brown Shoe Company, where her tireless work ethic truly shone. Beyond employment, Audrey possessed a knack for plumbing, embracing every challenge with a smile. Her heart, however, found the greatest joy in working in the cafeteria at Gadsden Elementary School, where she delighted in nourishing both the bodies and souls of countless children. She was, undoubtedly, a mother to hundreds, showering her love in countless little ways.
Education was important to Audrey, who graduated in 1954 from Alamo High School, where she stood out as a star basketball player. This determined mindset and her unwavering passion for life remained hallmarks of her character.
A loving mother, grandmother, and devoted friend, Audrey had an extraordinary zest for life. She was known for her exceptional cooking and her beautiful quilting, weaving not just fabric but also the ties that bound her family closer together. Her home was warm and inviting, a tapestry of cherished memories, laughter, and love. In her quiet moments, Audrey found joy in collecting pigs, an endearing testament to her playful spirit.
Her family remembers her fondly, including her beloved sons, Bro. Troy Redmond (Debra), Audie Redmond (Pam), and Jeffery Lynn Redmond, along with her cherished daughter, Shelia Sue Kirby (Keith). She is survived by her brother, James Morris, along with eleven loving grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, each carrying a piece of her legacy forward. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, all of whom were touched by her kindness and wisdom.
Audrey’s journey through life was not without heartache, as she mourned the loss of her loving husband of over 48 years, Horace S. Redmond, her son Roy Redmond, two sisters, and beloved grandson Joseph Redmond and granddaughter Ashley Redmond. Each of these losses has left an indelible mark on her family, yet the light of her spirit shines bright within their hearts.
In celebration of her life, a graveside service will be held at Lanier Cemetery in Alamo, Tennessee, officiated by Bro. Joe Watson, on March 13, 2026, at 12:30 PM, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable woman she was. A visitation will be held at the Bells Funeral Home on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon.
Audrey leaves a rich legacy of love, resilience, and compassion. Her spirit will forever resonate with those she cared for deeply, reminding us all to cherish our loved ones and the small, beautiful moments along the way.
