Organizers made the announcement at the Jackson Rotary Club.
Events will include tennis, volleyball, cycling and cornhole, among other sports.
Who can participate
“And this is for everybody, the idea of the state games is, you’re an amateur, maybe you’ve played once, maybe you play regularly on your pickleball, it’s also for those who we’ve added sports for who maybe have a disability, that they can also be involved, because that what we want it to be, we want it to be for everybody,” said Lindsey Moon, co-commissioner for the State Games of Tennessee.
The games are scheduled for May 30, June 5-7 and June 12-14.
Organizers say the event could also benefit Jackson’s tourism economy as athletes, families and sponsors come to the city.
“People have to come to Jackson and so they’re staying at our hotels, they’re eating at our restaurants, they’re shopping at our small businesses, and so the economic impact that it’s giving to our town is big and it will continue to grow as the State Games of Tennessee grows,” Moon said.
Officials say the games are more than competition and serve as a way for athletes to connect and demonstrate athletic excellence.
