Wayne Tritt, age 82, a devoted husband, father, farmer, Ginner, and faithful servant of his community, passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, faith, and love for his family.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Brownsville Funeral Home, 107 S. Lafayette Ave., Brownsville, TN.  The family will hold a private graveside service on Thursday, March 12, 2026. 

After attending college, Wayne chose to return home and partner with his father in the family farming business. Together they established M. E. Tritt and Son Farms, M.E. Tritt and Son Fertilizer Company and Tritt Seed, continuing a tradition of dedication to agriculture. Following his father’s passing in 1982, Wayne assumed responsibility for the ginning operations at Zion Gin Company, faithfully carrying on the work his father began.

Wayne was married to his beloved wife, Patsy Tritt in 1964, with whom he shared a life rooted in family and faith. Together they raised two children, Stewart and Libba, who were the pride and joy of his life.

In 1990, Wayne joined with fellow ginners to form a cotton marketing cooperative called Beltwide, an organization that later became Procot. His leadership and commitment to the cotton industry were evident throughout his life, and he remained involved with the organization until the day he passed away. Wayne also served as a past director of the Southern Cotton Ginners Association, contributing his time and experience to support the agricultural community he loved.

A man of deep faith, Wayne served as a deacon at Mercer Baptist Church, where he was known for his steady character, servant’s heart, and commitment to his church family.

Above all, Wayne loved his family deeply. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his dedication to farming, his dedication and love to the people that he employed, his service to his church and industry, and the love he shared with those closest to him.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Richardson Tritt; his children, Stewart Tritt (Sherry) and his daughter Libba Ellington (Rad); sisters, Dare Simpson and Diane Wright (Billy); eleven grandchildren, Evan Ellington (Rachel), Morris Tritt (Mary Drake), Katherine Rodgers (Greg), Ford Ellington (Lauren), Elizabeth Siler (Ryan), Tritt Ellington (Madison), Thomas Tritt (Amanda), David Tritt, Emerson Tritt, Will Tritt and Jack Tritt; nineteen great grandchildren; his office manager of 34 years, Norma Austin and many friends, colleagues, and loved ones who will cherish his memory.

Pallbearers for the service will be his beloved grandsons.

Wayne Tritt’s Life was marked by faith, service, and devotion to family, and his legacy will continue through those who knew and loved him.  The family requests that memorials be made to, A Miracle for Ben Rodgers, 4958 Hwy. 70 E., Brownsville, TN  38012.  All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
