JPD highlights domestic violence resources after 3 of 5 homicides linked to abuse
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE JACKSON POLICE DEPARTMENT:
JACKSON, Tenn. — Since January 2026, the Jackson Police Department has investigated five homicides in our community. Out of the five, three were related to domestic violence. These tragedies remind us how important it is to speak up and seek help.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, you are not alone and help is available.
Safety Tips:
- If you feel you are in immediate danger, call 911.
- Tell a trusted friend, family member, or neighbor what is happening.
- Create a safety plan and identify a safe place you can go if needed.
- Keep important documents, medications, and essentials in a place where you can grab them quickly.
The Safe Hope Center is here to support victims and survivors. The center provides Special Unit Investigators and WRAP (Wo/Mens Resource & Rape Assistance) Advocates who can help you navigate your options and find resources.
The Safe Hope Center provides one place where someone who has experienced domestic violence or sexual assault can go to obtain free services, which include Safety Planning, Counseling, Access to Safe Homes, Prosecution, Orders of Protection, Court Accompaniment, Prevention Education, and Counseling, just to name a few.
Jackson Police Department’s Investigators, WRAP Advocates (Wo/Men’s Resource & Rape Assistance Program), West TN Legal Services Attorney, and the Assistant District Attorney who prosecutes cases, and his Victim/Witness Coordinator all work together to provide trauma-informed, client-centered services.
The facility, located at 512 Roland Avenue (corner of Roland Avenue & Lambuth Blvd) is open Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00.
